Using Search

Using SiteHut3 min read

Press ⌘ K on Mac or Ctrl+K on Windows / Linux to open global search from almost anywhere. You can also use the search control in the header when it is visible.

Workspace vs project scope

When you are inside a job, search can be limited to that project or widened to the whole workspace. Use project scope to avoid noise on large accounts; use workspace scope when you are not sure which job something lives in.

In project scope, navigation shortcuts for snags and RFIs open that job's construction register. In workspace scope, they open My Work on the matching tab (your assigned items across jobs).

What you can find

Depending on your permissions, results can include:

  • Jobs
  • Tasks
  • Messages / timeline-style entries
  • Files and linked documents
  • Quotes, estimates, invoices, expenses, orders, and variations
  • Snags and RFIs (individual records deep-link to the job register)
  • Pipeline enquiries (when the sales pipeline module is enabled)
  • People — customers and partners

Filters (facets)

Use the tabs at the top to narrow results to Jobs, Tasks, Messages, Files, People, Site (snags & RFIs), or Pipeline, or keep All for a wide net.

Routes and navigation

Search also suggests app destinations—for example jumping to Workspace settings, Library, My Work, or a job's RFI register when you are inside that job—so you can move faster than clicking through the sidebar. Suggestions respect what your role is allowed to see.

Tips

  • Start with a short keyword or job name fragment; refine with facets if there are too many hits.
  • Recent or frequent items may surface higher in the list where the app supports it.
  • After adding new modules or migrating data, your workspace admin can run a search re-index if records do not appear immediately.
