Create a Job
A job is the container for tasks, files, site diary, and finances. Create a standalone job for a single site, or link a job to a development to run it as a plot on a multi-plot scheme—see Developments & plots.
Open the Jobs list
Click Jobs in the sidebar, then New—or press N while the list is focused.
Enter essentials
- Job name — how your team recognises the site (e.g. “14 Oak Lane” or “Plot 7”).
- Customer — pick from Directory or add a new customer inline.
- Development (optional) — link to a scheme so this job becomes a plot; leave unset for a standalone job.
- Site address — street and postcode for maps, diary, and documents.
- Description (optional) — internal notes about scope or access.
- Status — draft, active, or a custom status your workspace defines.
Save and open the job
After save, open the job to add tasks, upload files, or open Finances for quotes and expenses.
Financial defaults
New jobs inherit workspace settings unless you override them on Job → Details:
- Variation register — simple vs full workflow (Variations)
- Estimating — whether the Estimates tab appears under Finances
Set workspace defaults once under Settings → Workspace Settings → Quotes & invoices.
Developments vs standalone jobs
| Situation | What to create |
|---|---|
| One house or contract | Standalone job (no development) |
| Housing scheme with many plots | Development first, then plot jobs under it |
| Extra plot on an existing scheme | New job linked to that development |
After creation
- Duplicate an existing job from the job menu when a new plot repeats the same template.
- Star the job in the sidebar if it is a frequent quick-action target from My Work.
- Invite project members if external collaborators need access—see Roles.
