Create a job

Create a standalone job for a single site. After save, open Plan, Construction, or Job finances as needed. Developments and plots are coming soon.

When to use this​

Use this when you are opening a real site.

Do not use this for an enquiry that is not won yet. Use Pipeline first.

Before you start​

  • You can create jobs in this workspace.
  • A customer is useful but not required. You can pick one, click New Customer, or add them later.

Open Add job

On Jobs, choose Add job.

Enter essentials

  • Job name: how the team will find the site (for example "14 Oak Lane").
  • Customer: optional. Pick from Customers & trades, New Customer, or leave empty.
  • Site address: street and ZIP code. Use client address copies the customer address when they have one. You can still edit it (new builds often need a different site).
  • Current status: Planning, Active, or a custom status your workspace defines.
  • Description: internal notes about scope or access.

Save and open the job

Save Job. SiteHut opens the job. From Overview → Details you can set dates, contract setup, and timesheet check-in location.

What done looks like​

  • The job is on the Jobs list with the status you chose.
  • Opening it shows Overview. Plan, Construction, Activity, Job finances, and Files are there if your role and modules allow.
  • If you linked a development, the job is a plot under that scheme.

Common mistakes​

  • Creating a second standalone job for plot 2 instead of linking both to a development.
  • Leaving the site address blank, then wondering why maps, daily log weather, and clock-in have nothing to use.
  • Expecting quotes to look finished before the workspace logo and company address are set. That is Workspace settings, not the job form.

After creation​

  • Star the job if it is a frequent My Work target.
  • Invite people on Overview → Team if they need this job and not the whole workspace. See Roles.
  • Override change order register or estimating on Overview → Details when this job should not follow workspace defaults.

Set workspace defaults once under Settings → Quotes & invoices.

Timesheet check-in location

If geo clock-in is on, the job form can add a clock-in location from the site coordinates. Rural lots and new streets sometimes need you to drop a pin or type coordinates. You can add or fix this later from timesheet settings.
