Daily log

Construction8 min read

Daily log is the daily record on Job → Construction: date, weather, staff on site, work done, and photos. Use it for the team, the client summary, and later disputes.

When to use this

Use the daily log for what happened on that date on that plot.

Use Punch List for defects that need an owner. Use Activity for conversation. Use My Work to log the same entry from a phone.

Before you start

  • You can write daily log on the plot or standalone job (not on the development container).
  • On a phone, add SiteHut to the home screen if the browser offers it.

Open today's log

Open the plot → Construction → Daily log, or use Daily log on My Work.

Fill the day

Set Date, Weather (lookup from the site or your location when online), and Staff on site.

Always fill Work Progress. Add Client Update Summary when the client should see a clean version. Private Internal Notes stay off that summary.

Attach photos. Offline, they save on the device and upload later.

Save

Save the entry. If you are offline, it sits in the My Work sync queue until signal returns.

What done looks like

  • There is an entry for the date, on the correct plot.
  • Photos are on the entry (and listed under Files with origin Daily log).
  • Someone reading it next week can see what was done without scrolling a text thread.

Common mistakes

  • Logging the day against the development, or the wrong plot.
  • Photos only in camera roll, never on the log.
  • Using the log as the change order register. Raise a change order when cost or time moved. The log can prefill from an impact snapshot.
Extra notes, impact snapshot, and retract

Optional blocks on an entry: Issues or Delays, Deliveries, Visitors, Safety Observations, Equipment on Site. Equipment can copy forward from the previous day. Turn a block on only when you have something to say.

Impact snapshot (delay days, cost impact, responsible party) is there so a change order can prefill. It is not the approved change.

Retract entry removes a log row you posted in error. Use it for mistakes, not to tidy a dispute after the fact.
