Getting Started
Go from a new account to a working workspace: company details, a starter pack, your first Job, and enough customers and trades to quote and invoice.

When to use this
Use this guide the first time you open SiteHut, or when you are creating a new workspace for another company.
Do not use this guide if you were invited to an existing team. Open the invitation link, then skip to My Work or Jobs.
Before you start
- A work email you can confirm.
- Company name, address, and logo (PNG) if you will send quotes or invoices.
- EIN or sales tax ID, and bank details if you will bill from SiteHut.
Sign up and log in
- Go to the app and choose Create account.
- Confirm your email.
Create the workspace
After login, choose Create workspace. Enter a name (for example Acme Construction) and a color. You can change both later under Settings → Workspace settings.
Create workspace dialog
desktop
Finish setup
SiteHut opens a setup wizard until the workspace is marked complete. Work through:
- Business: name, country, address, logo. Country sets currency, default tax, language, and other market defaults.
- Quick start: choose the US general construction pack (or set defaults manually). A workspace can use one pack.
- Features: turn on optional modules you need now (sales pipeline, procurement, timesheets, expenses, change orders, Final Account). Estimating and developments are coming soon and stay in Settings → Features. You can change live modules later under Settings → Features.
- Money: sales tax rate, bank details, and payment terms for PDFs (currency usually comes from the country you chose on Business).
- Finish: confirm timezone, language, and color. Contract rules and invites can wait — use the links on this step or open Settings later.
After you choose Finish setup, SiteHut offers next steps (create a job, add a customer, invite a teammate).
If you leave halfway, Finish setup stays in the sidebar until you complete it.
Invite your team
-
Open Settings → Workspace settings → Users (or use Invite teammate from Finish / What’s next).
-
Choose Invite and enter an email.
-
Pick a role. Built-in starting points:
- Admin: full operational access, including billing for some plans
- Member / trade roles: day-to-day job work
- Read-only: operational read without sensitive commercial tools
Custom roles are covered in Roles and permissions.
Add customers and partners
Open Customers & trades.
- Customers for clients you quote and invoice.
- Trades & suppliers for subcontractors and suppliers (Add Partner).
- Import if you already have a CSV. See Import contacts.
You can add the first customer here, or from Add job. Trades can wait until you order or pay a supplier.
Add your first work
Choose the path that matches where the work is:
- Won, active, or existing site: go to Jobs and Add job. Add a name, customer, and site address. See Create a job.
- Still a maybe / enquiry: if Sales pipeline is on, go to Pipeline and Add enquiry instead of creating a job yet. See Sales pipeline.
Developments and plots are coming soon; launch with a standalone job when the site is real.

Plan a few tasks
Open the job Plan tab, or workspace Tasks.
- List for day-to-day edits.
- Calendar to drag dates.
- Gantt for durations and dependencies.
See Tasks overview.
Optional: quote and invoice
What done looks like
- You can log in and see My Work and Jobs.
- Setup is complete (no Finish setup banner).
- At least one customer and one job exist.
- A teammate can accept an invite, or you know you are working solo for now.
Common mistakes
- Creating a second workspace instead of accepting an invite.
- Skipping the starter pack, then wondering why sales tax, retainage, and terminology do not match your market.
- Sending a quote before the logo and company address are set. PDFs look unfinished.
- Inviting someone as Admin when they only need site access. Start narrower; you can widen the role.
Troubleshooting and setup checklist
- I can't invite someone: you need user-management rights. Ask an Admin.
- Dates look wrong: set the time zone under Account settings.
- Invoice PDF looks off: use a high-resolution logo (PNG, about 600px wide).
