Customers & trades
Customers & trades is the workspace list of people you bill and people you buy from. Add them once, then pick them on jobs, quotes, invoices, and purchase orders.

When this area is the right place
Use this list when you are adding a client, a trade, or a supplier, or when you need to fix a name, email, or address before a quote or order goes out.
Do not use it as the job. Create the site on Jobs. Do not use it as the enquiry board: that is Pipeline.
What you will see
Open Customers & trades in the sidebar (/directory). Tabs:
| Tab | What it is for |
|---|---|
| Customers | Clients you quote and invoice. Page title Customers. |
| Trades & suppliers | Subcontractors, suppliers, and professional services. Page title Partners. |
| Prospects | Leads you are quoting. Shown when Pipeline is on (and is the default tab). |
Search with Search directory…. Switch List View and Grid View. Sort Name (A–Z) or Name (Z–A).
Customers
Add Customer opens Add New Customer. Save customer when you are done.
Fill what you need for quoting and billing:
- Customer / client name (required)
- Customer type: Residential / private or Commercial / corporate
- Legal company name when it differs from the display name
- Associated people (full name, role, email, phone; mark one Primary contact)
- Payment & tax details: Payment terms (days), Tax ID / VAT number, Main office email, Main office phone
- Billing address and Notes
The tax field is still labelled Tax ID / VAT number. Commercial clients need Main office email (the form says Main billing email is required for commercial clients). You can also add one from Add job via New Customer.
Open a row for Customer details: contacts, Job history, Edit, and Delete. SiteHut blocks delete when the customer is linked to a job.
Trades & suppliers
Add Partner opens Add New Partner. Save partner when you are done.
Required:
- Partner / company name
- Cost type: Professional Services, Trades, or Suppliers
Optional: Specialties, General email, Main office phone, EIN / Tax ID, 1099-eligible subcontractor or supplier, associated people, office address, notes. There is no payment-terms field on a partner. Create and list labels still say partner even though the tab is Trades & suppliers.
Filter the list with All, Professional Services, Trades, and Suppliers.
Open a row for Partner details. Suppliers also get a Resources tab for linked costing-library items. Add resources attaches library items to that supplier with a rate each. The same picker is available from Library → Resources (select rows, then Assign supplier, or Group by supplier and use Add resources on a group).
Common actions
- Import on Customers or Trades & suppliers: CSV bulk add.
- Jump to a linked job from Job history.
- From a punch item or RFI doer picker, Save to Directory as partner…. From the project team picker, Save to Directory.
Prospects (when Pipeline is on)
Prospects is the directory view of leads. Add prospect opens a short form (Prospect name, contact, notes). Billing, payment terms, and address can wait until they become a client.
Empty-state copy points you to Pipeline. A contact captured on an enquiry can land here. Customers who are already clients stay on the Customers tab.
Compliance and 1099
On a US workspace you may see Compliance on the partner record (COI, W-9) and 1099 export on the list (Vendor summary CSV / Payment detail CSV, by tax year). That tab is optional workspace tooling. It is not a substitute for your accountant. See Xero if you sync contacts there.
