Calendar

Tasks5 min read

Calendar shows tasks and events on dates. Use it for week-to-week moves. Use Gantt when you need links and durations.

When to use this

Use Calendar when you are placing work on days, adding an event, or dragging something to a new slot.

Do not use it as the only place to build a linked programme. That is Gantt.

Before you start

  • Open Tasks in the sidebar, or a Job → Plan.
  • Switch to Calendar.
  • You can create tasks and events in this workspace.
  • Tasks still need a job. On workspace Calendar, pick the job in the form.

Choose week or month

Toggle Week or Month. Hide weekends if you only want working days. Non-working exceptions show as hatched cells.

Add an event or a task

  • Event: click an empty day or time slot. The range is prefilled. Use this for meetings, deliveries, and inspections.
  • Task: Option (Alt) + click an empty slot. Start and end are prefilled. Or use Add Task in the toolbar.
  • On a phone, use Add Task or Add Event. Alt-click is a desktop gesture.

Move or open an item

Drag a task or event to a new day or time. Click an item to open its detail sheet.

What done looks like

  • The item sits on the days you chose.
  • Opening it shows the same task or event detail as List and Gantt.
  • Filters still apply: if a task vanishes, check status, type, assignee, Show tasks, and Show events.

Common mistakes

  • Clicking an empty slot and expecting a task. A plain click creates an event. Hold Option (Alt) for a task, or use Add Task.
  • Creating from workspace Calendar without picking a job.
  • Looking for a Tasks tab on the job. The calendar is on Plan.

Filters and overlays

  • Status, task type, assignee (including unassigned).
  • Show tasks / Show events.
  • Milestones only.
  • Show snags and Show RFIs, with an option to include closed items.
Non-working days and display

Add non-working exceptions from the calendar toolbar (Add non-working day(s)). They refresh the grid and feed Gantt scheduling, together with weekend settings under Settings → Preferences.

Use Hide weekends when the week view is too wide. All-day items sit in the All-day row in week view.
