Templates
Templates stores reusable defaults: quote layouts, protections, contract rules, task programmes, and email scripts. The happy path is a quote template you pick when you create a quote.
Library → Templates → Quote templates
desktop
When to use this
Use this when several jobs should start from the same quote structure or task list.
Do not use it to store unit rates. That is Costing Library. Do not use it as the live Gantt. Apply a task template from Tasks → Import.
Before you start
- You can write the library.
- For quote templates, company details and logo are set under Settings → Details so PDFs look finished.
New template
Library → Templates → Quote templates → New template. The dialog is Create quote template.
Fill Template name, optional Description, and Default pricing mode: Quick (manual totals) or Estimate (bottom-up costing). Create template.
The page title is Templates. Search is Search templates, rules, snippets...
Edit the layout
Open the row (Edit template) and add sections and default wording in the quote builder. Set as default if most new quotes should use it. Clear default removes that. A Default badge shows on the list.
Use it on a quote
On the job: Job finances → Quotes & Contracts → Add quote / contract. For a Standard Quote, Start from quote template lists your layouts (placeholder Select a quote template…), plus a blank option.
Blank is fine for drafting. PDF and send need a template or document sections. Continue in Quotes.
What done looks like
- The layout is on Quote templates.
- Create New Baseline can pick it under Start from quote template.
- New quotes inherit that structure (and the default pricing mode you chose).
Common mistakes
- Expecting Blank quote to produce a finished PDF. Add a template, or add sections in the builder.
- Building rates here instead of in Costing Library.
- Looking for Quote layouts as the top Library tab. The top tab is Templates; the filter is Quote templates.
Other template types
Filter tabs (also All templates):
| Filter | Create | Use for |
|---|---|---|
| Quote templates | New template | Quote structure |
| Quote protections | New protection | Standard exclusions / assumptions on quotes |
| Contract rule templates | New preset | Time limits and variation pricing defaults for jobs |
| Task templates | New task template | Reusable task lists; apply from Tasks Import |
| Email scripts | New script | Subject and body for quote, invoice, or variation send |
On All templates there is no primary create button. Pick a filter first.
Task templates
New task template opens New task template. Add rows in the grid (optional CSV paste). Standard templates installs a ready-made programme you can edit afterwards.
Apply from workspace Tasks or job Plan: toolbar Import → a Library task template. See Tasks.
Catalog import
Where your workspace offers it, Standard templates on Quote templates installs starter layouts. That is separate from Costing Library CSV import.
