Estimates are internal cost plans: sections, quantities, and library resources. They are not the customer offer. When the numbers are ready, Create quote turns the estimate into a quote.

Note

Estimating is coming soon for new workspaces. Price quotes from the resource library instead. This guide stays here for workspaces that already have estimating enabled.

When to use this

Use an estimate when you need a structured cost build before you send a quote.

Skip estimates on small jobs and start with Quick Quote.

Before you start

• Settings → Features has the Estimating toggle on. The job can inherit that, or override it on Overview → Details.
• If you do not see Estimates under Job finances, estimating is off for the workspace or this job.
• Library items help, but you can still type lines.

Create estimate

Job finances → Estimates → Create estimate. New estimates start in draft.

Build the plan

Add sections and work items. Import from Library, then Add to Estimate. Attach materials, labor, plant, subcontract, or overheads. Check roll-ups and markup in the builder.

Create quote

Create quote opens Create Quote from Estimate. Pick a quote template (or blank). The quote inherits the pricing. The estimate then locks so the two documents do not drift.

What done looks like

• The estimate is on the Estimates list. Statuses include Draft, Finalised, Linked to Quote, and Archived.
• The customer-facing document is on Quotes & Contracts, not Estimates.

Common mistakes

• Sending the estimate as the offer. The customer document is the quote.
• Editing the estimate after Create quote. It is locked; later extras belong on Change Orders.
• Looking for Estimates when the Features toggle or job override is off.
